Not sure who I should be directing my questions and comments at, so please
let me know if I shouldn't be cc'ing somebody here.
Reading the WDDX whitepaper a couple of questions spring to mind. I have
only spent about 20 minutes reading, so I might have missed something
obvious.
I see the references in the whitepaper to the lack of support for NULL
values and also the lack of object references. The NULL part isn't a big
deal, but I think being able to serialize an object is important. At
least it is in PHP. There is very little difference between an
associative array and an object in PHP. As far as PHP is concerned we
would only need some sort of flag on the "struct" element in the DTD to
indicate what sort of structure is being referenced.
Another concern I have is that there is no mention of 8-bit clean or
binary data. Strings in PHP are 8-bit clean and the current PHP
serialization function stores the length of the string along with an
encoded version of the string itself. (The encoding code hasn't actually
been written yet since the serialization stuff in PHP is brand new)
