I think I found something that looks like a big bug in php3: I tried PHP 3.0.15, but it is always the same last time I had this problem (yes, that's not the first time) I recompiled php and that corrected this bug, but no luck this time, recompiling php and apache did nothing here is the exemple source : <? putenv("ORACLE_HOME=/opt/oracle/app/product/8.0.5"); ?> <a href="<? echo $PHP_SELF . "?" . time(); ?>">reload</a> <? $url = ""; $conn=OCILogon("****","****","iconotec"); echo "Conn : " . $conn . "<br>\n"; $request = "begin :url := appl_util.THUMBNAILPATH(wvwww_appl.SUBST_HTTPCLIENT('f:\\0000700\\f0000733.j pg'),false); end ;"; $stmt=OCIParse($conn,$request); OCIBindByName($stmt,":url",$url,200); OCIExecute($stmt); echo "url : " . $url . "<br>\n"; ?> the function should return a string here is the output : reload Conn : 1 Warning: OCIStmtExecute: ORA-24365: error in character conversion in /opt/apache/servers/iconotec/middle.iconotec.com/test.php3 on line 18 url : $Ü+*3<ETH><THORN>@Y´+'3<ETH>ß@–<ETH>+,3<ETH>à@Ø<ETH>+'3<ETH>á@ Y´+,3<ETH>â@ Y´+"3<ETH>ã@ Y´+.3<ETH>ä@ Y´+$3<ETH>å@8Y´+ the value of $url is somewhat random, looks like a broken memory pointer or something like that, some times it returns "begin :url :=appl_util.THUMBNAILPATH(wvwww_appl.SUBST_HTTPCLIENT('f:" ----------------------------------------- Yann Bizeul - yann@com-sales.com Groupe Communication & Sales Developpement & Administration Système Bur. 01 49 18 15 41 - Mob. 06 03 80 62 49 -----------------------------------------
