This is indeed the case. However, Oracle seems to have taken all the
Linux stuff offline (ftp://ftp.oracle.com/pub/www/oracle8/linux is
empty). Where else might I find the patches?

I'll have to investigate that further.

We did link against the Oracle libraries; that case just happened to be
the last one, where we didn't. We'll do it again and post a follow-up.
