Unless I'm missing something, expand_filepath() is missing considerable
functionality - it does handle relative paths that begin with ., but it
doesn't handle relative paths that don't, e.g. a simple filename, or
dirname/filename (in which case it's simply supposed to prepend the cwd).
Am I missing something, or should this be fixed?
