PHP Bug Type: IMAP related
Bug description: IMAP causes conflict with sybase (see also #2496)
Related to bug #2496 (still open?)
There appears to be a conflict between sybase and imap that still exists in PHP 4.0RC1, regarless of
imap version. When php is compiled with both extensions, sybase is unable to connect to database.
Script to reproduce the problem:
<?php
$dbhand = sybase_connect('SYBASE', $user, $pw);
sybase_query("SELECT * FROM tablename", $dbhand);
// $dbhand is 0 on failure and >= 1 on sucess.
?>
Symptoms:
1. -- BOTH extensions compiled --
./configure --with-apxs=/usr/sbin/apxs --with-xml
--disable-debug --with-mysql
--with-sybase=/opt/sybase --with-imap
IMAP works, but sybase cannot connect to database. PHP does NOT crash. With error_reporting set to
"E_ALL", the only error messages generated are:
"Warning: 0 is not a Sybase link index"
2. -- SYBASE only --
./configure --with-apxs=/usr/sbin/apxs --with-xml
--disable-debug --with-mysql
--with-sybase=/opt/sybase
Without IMAP compiled in, Sybase works perfectly.
I have reproduced these problems (consistently) with the following versions of IMAP:
A. 4.6-Beta (local build)
B. 4.6-3 Redhat RPM
C. 4.7-5 Redhat RPM (will not load, due to unatisfied
link with kerberos libraries)
C. 4.7-5 Redhat RPM (with local build of 4.7b c-client)
D. 4.7b (local build)
I also have the problem building with either sybase or with sybase-ct (both of which work, without
IMAP, on my system.)
Incidentally, IMAP seems to work fine regardless of sybase load status. Gotta' have Sybase
though :(
I can also find no compile-time errors (once I learned to rename c-client.a to libc-client.a). PHP
seems to build fine.
PHP is 4.0RC1
Sybase is from the 11.0.3.3-2 RPMs.
Linux is Redhat 6.0 (2.2.5 kernel with SMP)
glibc 2.1.1
I'm happy to answer any further questions regarding my configuration, or to try anything else I
can.
Thanks!
David
