For those of you secret pulling for me, I now have PHP3 compiled as an Apache module with Informix Support on Alpha OSF1. And... I learned a lession in the process NEVER trust your system administrator. I went to informix.com, downloaded my own copy of the Informix libraries, installed them in a separate directory, and compiled against my own copies and... whaddya know... it works. In the process of my way too elaborate attempts to get this to work, I did find three bugs in the Informix PHP Implmentation. Three BUGS that probably no one would ever see but me. Danny has fixed one, I submitted a bug report on another, and will be submitting a bug report on the third today. For the curious they were: 1) Spaces before #if and #endif on lines 148 and 150 of php3_ifx.h. These spaces cause the standard OSF1 cc to scream real loud 2) A sed command slightly out of whack in configure.in. The sed command is used to take ONE line "-lm" out of the output from Informix's application that lets you know what libraries it needs. The command used was sed -e 's/-lm//'. This works fine until one of the libraries you need is "-lmach". The sed command should be altered to read sed -e 's/-lm$//' 3) If a person has the environment variable "INFORMIXDIR" set to any valid directory, compilation of PHP will fail (unless of course you are installing Informix support and INFORMIXDIR is set to the correct location). The make procedure should be altered to check if --with-informix was issued. If it was, then check to make sure INFORMIXDIR is set and is proper Thanks again for all of your help, Daniel J.
