FileUpload in SafeMode?

Hi!
I tried to do a file upload in safe mode, but it didn't work and my
provider told me they can't turn off the safe mode. Do you know of any
other possibility to do a file upload? (ftp is out of question because
my provider has php 3.0.15 (I think), but not php4, and AFAIK ftp
functions are only supported in php4 and up)
