Hmm. Do any of the developers even speak Spanish? In Linux, with Oracle 8.1.6, PHP 4.0.0. and Apache 1.3.12 to avoid "defunct" processes, I recompiled PHP with --enable-sigchild. The problems with defunct processes were solved, but a new problem appears with Apache's persistent connections. Sometimes, the socket doesn't close when it stops receiving information for the time specified in the httpd.conf KeepAliveTimeout (normally 15 seconds). It doesn't close the expired socket, but it also doesn't listen on it, which causes some browsers to hang in the "read" state on the socket. Of course, since this socket isn't closed, it keeps waiting indefinitely. Steve Langasek postmodern programmer
