Hello,
Once in a while there is somebody that ask how to run a shell command in
background from without making PHP hang under UNIX. The problem is about
pclose() that hangs until all processes started from the script release the
output handle that was returned to PHP by popen().
While this is the correct behavious and so is not a bug, I thought it would
be useful to document it in the official manual. It seems that Adding
annotations to the manual from the site is not working yet. So, I wonder
what is the way to go to have this problem documented in the appropriate
section of the PHP manual.
I looked in the news server at news.php.net and there was a php.doc group
but it seems to be empty. I thought there was a PHP documentation mailing
list somewhere but I can't find it.
