Not at all. This would be the first time our company has released
anything as open source, and we're not a software company, or a
consultancy, so there aren't any immediate gains to releasing a
package to the OS community, other than the feel-good issue. So I
gather there's some hesitation - it's not clear who has the authority
to make the decision so it might well go up all the way to the CEO.
If anyone wants to make a difference, feel free to send mail to *me*
directly (not to anyone else in my email domain, please) with a Subj:
header I can filter out easily, e.g. "Petition to release ext/miix as
Open Source" making your point why this would be a Good Thing for the
PHP community. That should at least lend support to the notion that
the company would benefit in terms of image. Any convincing points on
other benefits to the company, relevant to its activity as a content
provider, might also be useful.
