It is set exactly like that.

Any one-liner will do, as "<? print $never_defined_before ?>", the problem
is that the bug starts (unpredictably) some time after the server has be
(re)started and disappears (for a while) as soon as a restart is done.
Anyway, this bug is described several times in the database, try a search
with "undefined variable" also among the closed bugs.
