The behaviour is really weird but ... the error is mine and related to
mysql
client libraries using pthread. Now I've built libphp4.so using built-in
mysql
support and everything is working fine.
The only "problem" I found is that if you build libphp4.so with mysqld
not
running, the module looks for mysql.sock in /tmp instead of
/var/lib/mysql/.
