In responce to the problem myself and others have been having with using
the imap4 module under win32, i did some searching into the source code of
both the imap.c file and the imap cclient which it it based on.
This problem was described in BUG reports #898 and #916.
I discovered that what was happening was that when the php imap_open()
function is called it calls the c-client.lib mail_open() function. This
function then searches through the drivers specified in the php imap_init()
function with the c-client mail_link(). Inside of here the first driver
included in the windows verions is mbxdriver, and then it goes on to add
others like the imap and pop3 ones. I believe there is a bug in the cclient
mbxdriver implmentation which causes it to not gracefully exit when it comes
accross a mailbox method it doesn't know how to use [for example when we
call do a imap_open("{host}INBOX", $user, $pass) ]. If i comment out this
line disabling the mbxdriver thus letting the imap one be the first one
loaded, the module works fine (as far as i can tell).
All I did was comment out one line (225) of code in the imap.c.
Everything i did was based on the php-3.0.5.tar.gz tarball from the web
site, not the CVS tree. Here is a diff of the changes
225c225
< mail_link (&mbxdriver); /* link in the mbox driver */
---
> /* mail_link (&mbxdriver);*/ /* link in the mbox driver */
If anyone wants to use the dll that i made for this its available at
