Thanks - did you get the similar patch for PHP 4?

I have to agree - it was a quick hack to see if PHP 4 and Zend would
work.

According to "gcc -dumpspecs", __itanium__ and __ia64__ are both
defined. The former is defined by cpp, while the latter is a predefine.
I think it would probably be worth checking the compiler and/or the OS
as well (__linux__ appears to work), since this may not apply to other
OS's.
