Uhm, serializer serializes a memory representation; It doesn't try to be optimal about it at all, and the serialized form doesn't resemble the memory representation at all.
Anyway, I don't mind seeing such a function in PHP, but I'm not too sure how useful it is. Did anyone ever find himself in a situation where this function was necessary/helpful?
