Hello Rasmus, On 15-Jul-00 14:55:39, you wrote: >Guys, in an effort to pool our resources and provide a single repository >for conference materials, I have created http://conf.php.net >The idea is that when/if you give a talk on PHP, you will be able to refer >people to http://conf.php.net/borland (for example, since I >just gave a >talk at the Borland conference). >It will also give other people the ability to put together presentations >quickly by reusing other peoples' slides and thus enable more people to >get out there and promote PHP. This is an excelent idea, but wouldn't it be better if the presentations could be developed from a target media independent specification format and then be generated in different presentation formats: static HTML, PDF, Shockwave Flash, SVG, SMIL, etc.. I think this would help more to reuse these materials to make presentations to promote PHP, since not everybody can have access a PHP enable remote server via a network to show in a live presentation and presentations can also be copied and browsed by users that don't even know how to set I don't know if there are better formats for slide based presentation format description. But something in XML seems appropriate. I have found a Python application that seems to do what I am suggesting. I think it would worth taking a look and eventually cooperate in the development of a better presentation engine. http://www.reportlab.com/demos/pythonpoint/pythonpoint.html Regards, Manuel Lemos Web Programming Components using PHP Classes.
