I had the same problems. The solution here was to switch back from
php.ini-optimized to the standard php.ini from the distribution.
Ah, I just found out that these both problems (it´s two now) have nothing to do with each other
1) phpmyadmin just needs register_globals=on
2) the second error makes me assuming that the win32 php version isn´t as stable as I thought (perhaps it´s in relation with ODBC), I`ll try the same code on Linux, but I´m sure it won´t crash there
