Please verify that it´s still happening using the latest version of PHP (release 4.0.1pl2 or CVS).
I really don´t know if it has sth to do with it, but there has been a 64bit fix/hack on the list...
if it still occurs you should search the archive for that fix and see if it fitx your case...
