This is basic (Linux) system administration, so it is not
really PHP-related. PHP compiles cleanly on Linux 2.4.0-test1
and all other kernels I've tested so far, provided that you
follow the right upgrade path.
Yes, it is recommened to use the GNU C Library 2.1.3 or
later, independent of what kernel version you run (glibc
2.1.2 has some nice memory leaks).
