mysql 3.23. api problem?

I just recompiled php and apparently there is a bug with mysql support using the mysql 3.23.22 api, './configure' '--with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql' '--with-apache=../apache_1.3.12' '--with-gd=shared,../gd-1.8.3' '--with-ldap' '--with-xml' '--enable-track-vars' '--enable-trans-sid' '--disable-pear' '--disable-debug' I can access any php page, except one that has any mysql_connect, when I try accessing a page with mysql_connect I'm not sure if php segfaults or what happens but lynx reports a network read error, and wget reports a end of file while parsing headers. This was with php4.0.2pl2 Thanks
