PHP version: 4.0.1pl2
PHP Bug Type: Installation problem
Bug description: in some cases configure needs to be runned as root
We've runned into some troubles while configuring php on Linux platform
with imap support.
(the configure line was: ./configure --with-mysql --with-apache=../apache_1.3.12 --enable-track-vars
--with-xml --with-imap )
The script configure needs to be runned as root as long as it tries
to create some symbolic links in system directories.
( ln -s "$IMAP_DIR/c-client/c-client.a" "$IMAP_DIR/c-client/libc-client.a"
>/dev/null 2>&1 )
Many users (like me) are used to run configure as normal users and they don't get any message
about the missing links until they try to run make and see that something's missing ... the
only way I found to understand what happened is to check the configure script.
