Well, I might be considering it for a large project of mine. Still I need
study it first because I need to figure it serves my needs. I have been
considering to use CORBA to take business objects out of the code of my Web
pages. That would make it easy to use such objects in non-HTML/Web
environments.
If I got SOAP right, it basically can be used to interface with a object
request broker using XML/HTTP as format and transport protocol instead of
IIOP as in CORBA. It seems that CORBA would be faster and it is not just
a RPC protocol, but the dependency on the existence of a ORB that I can
interface from PHP either for placing object requests or for providing
object services, makes me wonder if it is that worthy.
For those that don't know, there is a Orbit interface extension module for
PHP, but it does not yet provide BOA/POA interfaces for object service
providers.
My problem is that I don't know more than this. Does anybody has any
insight that would like to share on the issue of SOAP versus CORBA?
