Sorry, I don't understand this. What is wrong by passing by reference?

Well, but what about the crash? Is this segfault the correct
behaviour to tell me that I'm using a NOT IMPLEMENTED
function? And I wonder why this NOT IMPLEMENTED function is
working in a lot of cases. Take a look at Bug #6354. In this
example I do pretty the same and can reproduce a strange
error message if I insert just one line of code that seems to have nothing
to do with the problem.

Great, yeah I know I can do it that way, but I don't like this way. And it
is working in the way I am doing it except in some strange situations and
that's why I am still sure there must be a bug in PHP and the bug-reports
#6352 and #6354 are demonstrating this bug pretty well in form of a strange
error message and in form of a segmentation fault.
Bye
