Sorry about the word wrapping, one of the curses of having to use Outlook as a mail client. You
assume
everyone else has auto-word-wrap on...
Yes, I have looked at the README.EXT_SKEL, and I have gotten a couple of modules to compile and
run within PHP. This is not the problem, the problem is trying to get things to run as a loadable
module, I get the following error whenever there is a call to the php_error() function:
ie. php: error in loading shared libraries:
/usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20000609/php_test.so: undefined symbol: php_error_cb
My module loads, and runs, just fine until there is an error condition. I was also playing around
with the sabletron module(http://p4lib.hk-go.to/), and it has the same problem. So either there
is something wrong with my installation, or there is something extra that has to be done to create
self contained php extensions that more people than myself don't know about. I assumed that I
was
linking something wrong...
Thanks for any light that you or anyone else could shed on this,
And I will try to be more careful with ww in the future...
Anyhow here is my original message wordwrapped properly...
--------------
Finally, after a lot of playing around I got a self_contained php extension to compile and load, and
everything seems to work alright... I can create an associative array and fill it with data, and
check
out that data from a PHP script. This is until there is an error, where I call php_error(). Any
php
code that produces an error returns the following error from the php runtime (this is from the
command-
line)...
php: error in loading shared libraries:
/usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20000609/php_test.so: undefined symbol: php_error_cb
I assume this is some kind of linking problem between the .so and the funcitons in main.c, however I
have
no idea how I am supposed to add these libraries to the SO, or anything like that. I have noticed
the
same problem in the php_sablotron (http://p4lib.hk-go.to/) extension, so either my install of PHP is
weird, or other people are having problems with this as well.

Did you read README.EXT_SKEL in the PHP 4 distribution?
And it would also help if you would wrap your lines at somewhere less than
80 chars. I tend to skip unreadable messages like yours.
