I have a function that creates indented select boxes from a MySQL table, I
also have a PHP page that edits the table and enforces valid parent values
to prevent loops in the parent link. If you want it just let me know...
CREATE TABLE Selections(
ID bigint not null auto_increment,
Parent bigint,
Description,
PRIMARY KEY( ID ));
ID Parent Description
1 0 One
2 0 Two
3 0 Three
4 1 One A
5 1 One B
6 4 One A A
7 2 Two A
Results in
One
-One A
--One A A
-One B
Two
-Two A
Three
There is no built in limit to the depth you can nest things.
