I am sorry if I missed it, but I didn't see any mention of MySQL being compiled with pthreads,
not installing mysql-shared rpm, etc. etc. on that page. In fact, I can quote from that page (<A
href="http://www.php.net/manual/ref.mysql.php">http://www.php.net/manual/ref.mysql..php):
These functions allow you to access MySQL database servers. In order to have these functions
available, you must compile php with mysql support by using the --with-mysql option. If you use this
option without specifying the path to mysql, php will use the built-in mysql client libraries. Users
who run other applications that use mysql (for example, running php3 and php4 as concurrent apache
modules, or auth-mysql) should always specify the path to mysql: <TT
class=option>--with-mysql=/path/to/mysql. This will force php to use the client libraries
installed by mysql, avoiding any conflicts.
no pthreads, no shared mysql libraries. nothing about recompiling mysql. Am I looking in the wrong
place?

Or at least an entry in FAQ would be nice? Apparently, I am not the only person who was banging his
head on the wall because of this, but not everybody reads the mailing list...Vlad
This is actually in the manual. And in the eact location you specify..
