Bug Type: Misbehaving function
Description: chop() fails clearing whitespace at end of string
After changing PHP from the .DLL version to the .EXE, some problems have disappeared, including
chop(), trim(), exec() and system() functions.
It might help with bug reports to indicate which type of PHP was being used when the problem
occurred.

When a text file has a Carriage Return/Line Feed character sequence at the end of each line, the
chop() function only discards the Line Feed character and retains the Carriage Return character as a
blank. This should be treated as whitespace and also be removed from the end.
Using chop() in a Windows environment means programming my own version of chop() to compensate for
this problem.
I have a zip file with examples but this report seems to have no facility to provide an attachment
