From: michael.jackson@lightyearcom.com Operating system: Solaris 2.6 PHP version: 4.0.2 PHP Bug Type: *Install and Config Bug description: Configure screws up library names... Here is the configure line I am using... ./configure --without-mysql --with-ldap=/usr/local/ldap --with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs --enable-calendar --enable-ftp --enable-track-vars --with-gd=/usr/local --with-jpeg-dir=/usr/local This works PERFECT in php 4.0.1pl2. In php4.0.2, it will do "strange stuff" - Specifically, on a configure, it will give you the "Attention - Something is likely to be messed up here, check debug.log" error - If you check debug.logm on the "gcc -o conftest" line (14th line down_ it spits out "-l -ljpeg" when it's trying to link. (Note the extra -l) Then it blows up with "ld: FATAL: library -l-ljpeg not found" and on a "make," it tries to link with the argument "-l -lpng" (An extra -l get's thrown in again some how) and it blows up on the final link. I am using gcc 2.95.2 under solaris 2.6, with gd 1.8.3, jpeg6b, IPlanet LDAP SDK 4.1, libpng1.0.8, and apache 1.3.12... Hope this is verbose enough!
