following on from the previous discussion regarding threading:
even though the "ticks" functionality does exist, is there still a
possibility of "real" threading for PHP in a later revision (4.1? 5?).
obviously, there are many issues that would make this extremely difficult
- especially the fact that threads can differ from one platform to the
next. there is an interesting project called GNU Pth
(http://www.gnu.org/software/pth/) that *may* help get over this obstacle
though - it is a portable threads library that is implemented in
userspace.
any thoughts?
