I recently needed to write a C daemon that needed to communicate with PHP via the use of Shared
Memory.
PHP 4.0 already has SYSV shared memory functions shm_*. Unfortunately, what I had found, was that
although the functions work well inside PHP there is no documentation about the header that is added
to the shared memory segment and the format used to store php variables. This effectively prevents
people from easily writing external programs in other languages such as C that can communicate with
PHP via the use of shared memory (sysv shm). So, I wrote a more general set of shared memory
functions for PHP, this extension allows for extremely easy use of shm via the use of functions such
as
shmopen();
shmread();
shmwrite();
shmdelete();
shmclose();
Basically a very simple shm interface, which I hope is much better suited implementation for a large
number of imaginable situations where shm would be used. I would like to submit this extension to
the (?main php cvs tree?) because I believe it may be useful to the large number of people. How
would I go about submitting code to the php cvs tree?
