$dfn="php://stdout";
That points to the stdout file pointer of STDIO. That is not
intended for anything else but PHP in CGI mode.
Maybe it should be available for all other modes too? Below is a suggestion from stas regarding bug #6481...
"I guess you should use gzopen("php://stdout","w") instead, because gzcompress doesn't have all gzip file headers too.
In other words, gzcompress and gzopen/gzwrite are different functions, and in zlib too."
