Hello,
Ilia (EvilProt on #php), Slava (hackie on #php) and I discussed some
thing about more general shm operations. Below the reason why he did it:

I myself find these functions very useful too, and others on the #php
channel too.
Everything is ready, so I'll add the functions (as another extension
(--with-shmop)
n a few days. Documentation is ready too.
