-----------
I managed to narrow the problem down to the use of --enable-trans-sid
The problem occured when PHP 4.01 or 4.02 were compiled with
./configure --with-mysql --with-apache=../apache_1.3.x --enable-track-vars -
-enable-trans-sid
It was occuring at random with any script that produced HREFs.
A re-compile without the above --enable-trans-sid cured the problem.
P.S. Close the report if you want - I have forgoten my password!
----------
This should be fixed by now.

I can not reproduce this. Which version of mysql do you use?
What is your configure line for PHP ?
And please provide shortest possible reproducing script too.

I am getting intermittent segmentation faults when running scripts that talk to a remote mysql
server.
I have tried running php as dso and cgi and on both rh6.1 & 6.2 - and it doesn't make any
difference.
The only success I have had is when I tried running the scripts on the mysql box (so it connects to
localhost) and it seems to work fine.
I have tried a back trace and this is what I get:
(gdb) run -X -f /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf
Starting program: /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd -X -f
/usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf
Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.

3100 malloc.c: No such file or directory.
Is this something to do with mysql multithreading? Mysql was compiled from source to eliminate
linking against pthreads.
