It's more interesting than the TV debates. I can see it now:
Q. Gentlemen, a simple question. What web server software do you use?
Gore: As I was saying to my good friend, Andi Gutmans, last night, when
I helped to invent the internet, I had a dream of a tool that was
accessable by *all* of the people, not just the top 1% of the people. You
see, my opponent would only allow the top one percent of the people
to surf the internet. As I was saying at ApacheCon, where poor, starving
programmers from around the world meet, (like my good friend Zeev Suraski,
a humbled and broken man from Texas) , we need to put the internet into
a lockbox, to ensure that future generations have a chance to use it...
unlike my opponent, who wants to destroy the internet.
Bush: Now, my opponent is just just using fuzzy math to explain his
intranet policy. My father never used fuzzy math, and neither will
I. I know lots o' high-tech folks too, and you know what they tell
me? They tell me that they want to be in control of their success. They
don't want the govnerment forcing them to use the intranet. They want
an intranet that they can use. Which is why I am proposing a tax credit
for all intranet users who put money into the stock market. So they
can use the intranet without the govnerment just spending it all away.
Gore: I have a tax credit too. However, my tax credit helps *all* the
internet stock investors, where my opponents tax credit, (and the numbers
will back me up here) will only help the richest of internet surfers.
Like my old pal Tim Berners-Lee once said to me, "it's a good idea". I
think we should listen to Tim, and continue the prosperity we have had
over the last 8 years. I am my own man, and the internet belongs to
all the people. I will fight for all the people of the internet, not
just the special interests.
Bush: My daddy used to tell me some good stories... anyways, the point
is that we have a difference of opinion. Just that. He wants to force
everyone to use the intranet the way the government thinks people
should use the intranet, and I think people should decide if they
want to use the intranet. It's just a difference of opinion. Texas
has had great intranet usage, and I will continue that trend, and will
not dishonor intranet usage..... it's a difference of opinion.
Ad nauseum.
