Hi again This really is a mystery. The error you got during compilation was: CC=cc ./configure --with-mysql=/tru64/local/mysql --with-apache=../apache_1.3.12 --with-imap --enable-track-vars cc: Error: network.c, line 79: In this declaration, "hints" has no linkage and is of an incomplete type. (incompnolink) struct addrinfo hints, *res, *sai; --------------------------------^ This indicates that struct addrinfo wasn't found. You tried to compile the configure program > hoagy 39% cc -c jnk.c > cc: Warning: jnk.c, line 4: In this statement, the referenced type of the > pointer value "&h" is "struct addrinfo", which is not compatible with > "pointer to struct addrinfo". (ptrmismatch) > getaddrinfo ("","",&h,&h); > ----------------------^ > > Which is the same warning that the configure script gets. I am running This indicates that struct addrinfo was found. It includes only netdb.h which also is included by network.c. There is a small error in the configure program which results in a warning, if you try #include <netdb.h> int main() { struct addrinfo h,*g;g=&h;getaddrinfo("","",g,&g); ; return 0; you won't get any warnings. So, the big question is why struct addrinfo was found by configure and when you compiled manually, but not when network.c was compiled. If you try to write say addrinf instead of addrinfo you'll see that you get same error as from network.c. I just compiled 4.0.3pl1 with Compaq C V6.1-013 on Digital UNIX V5.0, getaddrinfo was found and network.c didn't give any trouble. This is close to the setup you got. Could you try to configure and compile again, and please do "ls -lu" on netdb.h to check that it was actually read. I'm sorry, but I don't know what else to do. If you can give me access to the computer I should be able to find out what's going on though. Stig
