Here is the response from PHP.COM -----Original Message----- From: Roy [mailto:royb@netcom.com] Sent: Monday, November 13, 2000 4:33 PM To: cmv@php.net Cc: trudy@php.com Subject: Fwd: FW: PHP.COM's courteous link to the PHP programming language website Hey Colin, Trudy forwarded your note to me. Basically, I'm working with Trudy at Parents Helping Parents and they know they're not linking to your PHP.net site directly. The idea was to find a way to make the misdirected PHP traffic benefit PHP (Parents Helping Parents). So, a portal site was developed (www.phptown.com) which would both help people find the PHP resources they were looking for, plus find a way to benefit Parents Helping Parents financially (through affiliate links to Amazon, ad banners, etc). I think this is a fair compromise, since it gets the misdirected people to where they wanted to go. I know Trudy shortened the link to read "PHP Language Site", which may be a little confusing. Perhaps something like "PHP Language Resources" or "PHP Language Portal" would be more specific and still keep it short. Roy Batchelor P.S. I love PHP and mySQL. So, my goal was to continue to connect people to PHP.net but also give PHP.com an incentive to do so. >Reply-To: <trudy@php.com> >From: "Trudy Grable" <trudy@php.com> >To: <royb@netcom.com> >Subject: FW: PHP.COM's courteous link to the PHP programming language website >Date: Mon, 13 Nov 2000 13:17:41 -0800 >X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook CWS, Build 9.0.2416 (9.0.2910.0) >Importance: Normal > > > >-----Original Message----- >From: Colin Viebrock [mailto:cmv@php.net] >Sent: Monday, November 13, 2000 12:52 PM >To: trudy@PHP.COM >Cc: Php-Dev >Subject: PHP.COM's courteous link to the PHP programming language >website > > >Trudy, > >I noticed that PHP.COM has courteously provided a connect to the >PHP programming language's website throughout your site. > >Unfortunately, and I don't know if you are aware of this, the link >is not actually pointing to the offical PHP website, which is at >http://www.php.net. > >Thank you in advance for correcting this on your site, and thank >you on behalf of the PHP developers and community for providing >this link in the first place. > >__________________________________________________________________ >Colin Viebrock >PHP Development Team Member >
