Can you tell whether Apache segfaults when PHP is loaded? Try getting
a backtrace if you can.
Sometimes another useful thing to do--when you're desperate :)--is to
'strace /path/to/httpd -X -f /path/to/httpd.conf' and see what it's
hanging up on.
