ID: 6759 Updated by: jason Reported By: Wolfram.Schmidt@iao.fhg.de Status: Closed Bug Type: Compile Failure Assigned To: Comments: Previous Comments: --------------------------------------------------------------------------- [2000-10-14 22:19:07] Wolfram.Schmidt@iao.fhg.de ah, yes - its ext/java/java.c --------------------------------------------------------------------------- [2000-10-14 22:17:59] Wolfram.Schmidt@iao.fhg.de Problem still exists in 4.0.3 - gcc compiles this code. Who is in error? A long time ago, when I programmed in C, I would have said that Sun C ist right. You need to take the address of the lvalue, cast it into the correct pointer and dereference it. But what do I know :-) (not the recent modifications to the C language standard...) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- [2000-09-14 09:32:48] Wolfram.Schmidt@iao.fhg.de Using Sun C 5.0 I get the following error message: "java.c", line 555: a cast does not yield an lvalue With incompetent modification of the casts I get this down to: warning: improper pointer/integer combination: op "=" I can't test it because there are other compile failures. which I will report later. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Full Bug description available at: http://bugs.php.net/?id=6759
