First, this does not belong on the php-dev list. If you need to continue
the discussion please move it to php-db. This list is for the development
of PHP, not its use.
How do you know it is running?
Can you connect with the MySQL client program?
Can you connect with the client, running as the user the web server is
running as? (Usually nobody) If not look at the permissions on the socket,
and the directories that contain it.

> mysql -u somedatabaseuser -p
