K&R == "Kernigan & Ritchie"... the original C Language developers... and
also the original C authors of the book "The C Programming Language"... The
bible of C programming.
In this particular context... "K&R" means the C indenting style specified in
that book...

PS: Actually... I don't remeber if the book advocates the opening { in the
same line as the if/while/function declaration or on the next line... I'll
have to look it up :-)
