How to get rid of CFLAGS -g option?

Building php4 (from snaps.php.net) on AIX and I am noticing the code is being
compiled with the -g option. I'd like to build w/o -g. Where is CFLAGS set
(or is there some other basic piece of knowledge that I am missing wrt doing a
release build :-)
