Well, there's a variety of options, all of which are good ideas (if not
done already) for fighting spam:
1. Only allow posts from subscriber addresses only.
2. Using RBL/PSS/DUL and/or ORBS (a political issue, they tend to piss people
off, as they may shut *entire netblocks* down for excessive spam, much
to the chagrin of non-spammers using the same ISPs) at the php-net mail
server(s).
3. Fight it personally with spamcop.net. This won't stave off future
attacks, but it will help shut out some repeat offenders.
I've been doing all three on the lists I admin for. The RBL and ORBS
can get rid of quite a bit, but if done *wrong*, may shut out many
newbie developers (who aren't using static IP's for their dev servers,
so they may look like spammers using throw-away accounts).
