Hi
As you all may be aware of, in the thread
"Bug #8552 Updated: fopen doesn't open URL" there have been discussions
about making fopen() follow redirects. It does (I think) in PHP3 and in
PHP4 up to 4.0.2. There have been several bug reports because of this
change, and others it seems, think it's reasonable to follow redirects.
I'm ready to add back in the old redirect support, any objections? In
that thread there have also been discussions on improvements and how
this should work.
I'm writing this because I'm afraid not all of you have read that
thread, and I want as many as possible to read it. If anyone thinks
that we shouldn't follow redirects by default, let me know, else I
add it. And please read that thread if the topic sounds interesting.
In particular there are discussions on how $http_response_header
should behave when following redirects, and how possibly one can
choose not to follow redirects.
