Are you trying to use PHP to connect to both a 3.20 and a 3.22 MySQL
server? If so, that is surely the problem. The protocols are not
compatible and a 3.20.x client is not able to talk to a 3.22 server and
vice versa. So, if you have the 3.20.x client library linked into PHP you
can't talk to a 3.22 server, for example.
