Description: Unexpected error message
No, that's the strange thing.
Nothing has changed in the system's registry;
No programs have been (un)installed during the time.
Is it perhaps possible that PHP erases or alters the system's registry (unknowningly) upon
failure?
I've tested the COM objects (together with MS Word) quite a lot and not all my tests were quite
successfull.

since this is a windows error message and not a php one, i can only imagine that there's
something wrong with your office installation.
have you changed something in your registry ?
try to run the office-setup again.

When the following commands are executed:
$word = new COM("word.application") or die("Unable to instantiate Word");
the following error appears:
Warning: Unable to obtain IDispatch interface for CLSID {000209FF-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}:
Server execution failed in c:inetpubwwwroottest.php on line 14
Unable to instantiate Word
This a very odd error, because the Task Manager shows that PHP has executed the Word application (as
winword.exe) w/o any problem.
What's even more odd, the above used to work w/o any problems, although there have not been any
changes in configuration.
