Problems accessing MySQL database with PHP

I am new to PHP and seem to be having problem getting information out of a mysql data base. I checked the apache error log and the following entry is what I got when I recieved the "Document Contains No Datat" error: httpd: [Wed Mar 24 20:40:05 1999] [notice] child pid 5868 exit signal Segmentation fault (11) Today I installed the PHPMySQLAdmin tool and it half works. It can create and drop databases and read the structure of the tables, but cannot select anything from the tables. The PHPMySQLAdmin tool is able to insert info into the database, but again, cannot retrieve anything.
