Sorry for direct posting - I can't get onto the bugs database at the moment. Copying php.ini is the last thing the installer does before running the bit that configures IIS - and this is the thing that uses MSCOMCTL. I suspect that your registration of that module failed or you have a dodgy module - is the Win98 dir a standard feature of W2K or perhaps something left over from an old Win98 installation - I'm guessing here but maybe the MSCOMCTL that you have is the wrong version for W2K? In any event, php will be installed ok on your system, all you need to do is forget the automatic IIS configuration and manually configure the php script mapping in the Microsoft Mamnagement Console as per the installation notes.
