In my opinion, a bad decision, because now they have to do those same modifications every time there's a new PHP3 release. I have already contacted the team, partly to offer help in making their application a proper dl'able module, partly because the team seems to be living in the same city as I and as a programmer I find it sometimes quite hard to find intellectual people with whom to have a few beers...
