If you still get this segfault with either
latest CVS or RC, reopen with a short script that
can be used to reproduce this.

Could you please try these solutions:
1. Get fresh sources of both Apache and PHP and
do the install steps again. But this time use the
path to the external mysql: --with-mysql=/path
2. If the first one didn't work, try the 4.0.6 release
candidate 2 from here:

./configur --with-mysql --with-apache=../apache_1.3.19
and run some query and other stuff.
result in apache child segmentation fault (11) .
