Hullu,
it appears to me that the current implementation of the socket IO buffering is
rather incomplete.
As stated before, the current PHP3 uses two subsystems to access sockets - the
standard C library interface and _php3_sock_fgets() which does its own
buffering. This breaks all scripts which try to use fgets() together with
other IO operations such as fread or feof.
Before PHP 3.0.8 can be released, I think this should be fixed. ssb was
working on this, but I have not seen a note from him on this issue. If nobody
jumps into my way, I'll move some code around for a more complete socket
interface.
